Cara C. (Honselman) Shoaff grew up on a farm in Casey, Illinois. She graduated from Casey-Westfield High School in 2000 and attended college at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. While at Millikin, Cara lettered in four years of varsity women’s volleyball for the Big Blue. She also was an active member in the Freshman Women’s and Mixed Chorus. During her time at Millikin, Cara expanded her education through study abroad programs in both Germany and the Dominican Republic. She graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree, double majoring in Accounting and Business management with an International Concentration.
Immediately following her graduation from Millikin, Cara attended Southern Illinois University College of Law. She clerked all three years of law school with Heller, Holmes & Associates. Upon graduating from Southern, she accepted a position with Hefner, Eberspacher & Tapella, LLC, and worked as an Associate Attorney for approximately four years. During her four years, Cara honed her skills in the areas of family law, medical malpractice, personal injury, business planning, estate planning, guardianships, and social security disability. In January 2011, Cara, Janet Grove, and John Armstrong established Armstrong, Grove & Shoaff LLC. At that time, Cara chose to limit her practice to areas she truly enjoys such as estate planning, estate administration, guardianships, real estate, trusts and trust administration and business succession and planning. In July 2014, Cara established Shoaff Law, LLC with an office location in Casey, Illinois and a secondary location in Mattoon, Illinois. In August, 2015, Cara and her business partner, Angela Vandeventer, excitedly formed Shoaff & Vandeventer, LLC.
